Fracking concerns draw crowd to rare public hearing with DNR


MANDEVILLE, La. —St. Tammany Parish residents packed the Lakeshore High School gym in Mandeville to voice their opposition to a proposed fracking well. The public hearing was organized by the Department of Natural Resources and gave Helis Oil and Gas and parties opposed to the well a chance to speak in a public forum.

There were tense moments among the crowd as Helis called up expert witnesses to explain the hydraulic fracturing process for a panel from the Department of Natural Resources. There purpose was to help convince the crowd and the panel that the well will be safe and within regulations. Read more.
